DESCRIPTION The focus of this presentation was the populating of Rakahanga - Manihiki. This presentation is on how two people from Rarotonga Toa and Tepaeru and their daughters settled on Rakahanga and Manihiki. 

The creation of Rakahanga-Manihiki and how the people utilised the two Islands for survival. Food was cultivated on one island, and they settled on the other Island, until food ran out then they moved back to the other Island.

The suggestion from Papa Huda for sustaining the language was to “tuatua māori ua te Metua ki ta ratou tamariki I roto I to ratou ngutuare” – Parents need to speak the reo to their children in their homes.
